Wood based panel is a kind of panel or molded product made of wood or non wood plant fiber materials as the main raw materials, processed into various material units, with (or without) adhesives and other additives. Fiberboard, particleboard and plywood are the main products in the market. In recent years, China's wood-based panel production has shown a steady growth trend. Development Status Of Wood Based Panel Industry
1. Wood based panel output
With the development of China's economy, the advancement of urbanization and the improvement of production technology and process, China has become the world's largest producer of wood-based panels. China's wood-based panel output continues to increase. In 2016, China's wood-based panel output was 300.42 million cubic meters, increasing to 311.01 million cubic meters in 2020, with a compound annual growth rate of 0.87%. It is estimated that the output will reach 316.76 million cubic meters in 2022.

3. Market structure of wood-based panel
In terms of consumption structure, plywood still dominates, and the consumption proportion of fiberboard and particleboard remains stable as a whole. Plywood accounts for 62.7% of the total consumption of wood-based panel products; Fiberboard ranks second, accounting for 20.1% of the total consumption of wood-based panel products; Particleboard ranks third, accounting for 10.5% of the total consumption of wood-based panel products.
Development Trend
1. The market share of particleboard is expected to increase
The supply side structural reform of China's wood-based panel industry will be accelerated step by step. The market share of particleboard, especially medium and high-end particleboard with stable quality, higher strength and good environmental protection performance, is expected to further increase. Particleboard products are cheap and of high quality. Its development is conducive to effectively alleviate the imbalance between supply and demand of wood in China. It is in line with the sustainable development strategy of China's ecological environment and has great development potential in the future.
2. The concentration of sub industries of fiberboard and particleboard continued to increase
Fiberboard and Particleboard in wood-based panels have a high technical threshold. The number and production capacity of continuous flat pressing production lines have been gradually increased, and traditional production lines such as single-layer press and multi-layer press have been continuously replaced. The industrial upgrading trend of wood-based panel industry is obvious, and the enterprise's large-scale operation is an inevitable trend to maintain competitiveness in the industry in the future.
With the improvement of the technical process level and environmental protection supervision of China's wood-based panel industry and the upgrading of downstream consumer demand, the backward production capacity of the wood-based panel industry has been gradually eliminated, and the small and medium-sized production capacity has further contracted. 3. The application field of wood-based panel products is gradually expanded
